Throughout the decades, Anzenchitai has carved a space in Japan for their cosmopolitan brand of J-rock. Formed in Hokkaido in the 1970s, the group initially played as a backing unit for singer-songwriter Yosui Inoue before soaring on their own with synth rock anthems like "Wine Red No Kokoro" and Koji Tamaki's ebullient, midrange gale of a voice. Keeping pace with musical trends, the band now adds plenty of guitar jangle to their catchy, chorus-centred songs while Tamaki contemplates life and love.
