Armored Saint are all about heavy-metal purity, and their original lineup, anchored by six-string shredder Dave Prichard, was one of the hardest groups to emerge from L.A. in the '80s. The lean “Can U Deliver” is a British-metal-flavored juggernaut built from precision picking, a solid beat, and John Bush's dynamite scream; with a slow, brooding tempo, “Nervous Man” is a classic headbanging mediation on teenage alienation. The post-Prichard lineups have proven just as fierce: The proggy “Win Hands Down,” from 2015, swings agilely from locomotive crunch to jazzy soloing and back again.
