This kind of rock never gets old. Sweden's Backyard Babies got their start in the late ‘80s, a time when hair metal was in the ascendant and cowbells were still used without irony. They make their living crafting the kind of snarling, fast-moving rock 'n' roll that fueled acts like Social Distortion and AC/DC (both of whom they've toured with), but they cut that swift fury with the occasional surprise ballad, earning a rabid following in the process. The band have taken hiatuses over the years (guitarist Dregen left briefly to form a little act called The Hellacopters), but they're always pulled back together by their urgent, magnetic output.
