Olga Kormukhina's award-winning performance at the Nizhny Novgorod Spring Universe Jazz Rock Festival in 1980 shaped the future of her musical career. Lauding her performance, jazz conductor Oleg Lundstrem recruited her to Moscow, where she performed both in his orchestra and in several rock bands. Although she has always been able to meld her style seamlessly into the music of others, her solo career allowed her towering vocals to take centre stage, featuring in everything from emotive alt-rock to raging metal-opera and vibrant nu-metal theatricality.
