Part of what makes Luke Laird such a masterful country songwriter and producer is his ability to serve the song no matter the setting. He does the same as a session musician, whether that means supplying electronics to amp up the atmosphere on a Jon Pardi cut or settling into a sweet, simple acoustic-guitar riff to help build the bedrock of Cam’s “Half Broke Heart” or Brett Eldredge’s “Mean to Me.”
