Since forming in 1997, Japan's MUCC have become one of the country's pre-eminent visual kei rock bands—known for driving hard rock, powerful heavy metal, and a sombre, goth-inspired aesthetic. Electric guitars thrash alongside intense electronics, industrial elements, metalcore breakdowns, grungy riffs and the occasional rap to create a chaotic sound that refuses to fall neatly into one genre. Although MUCC employ a multitude of styles, they never lose sight of their signature sound, ensuring their moody rock songs are full of addictive hooks and singalong lyrics.
