Mount Kimbie are a genre purist's worst nightmare, and that's exactly how they want it. Having helped kick-start the UK's post-dubstep movement (a diverse assortment of scenes and collectives), Dominic Maker and Kai Campos dissolve thick bass frequencies in vapour that drifts dreamlike through DIY electronics, hazy ambient, indie R&B and UK garage. Sometimes, the music feels live and improvised; other times, heavily processed and programmed. Ultimately, though, it remains deliciously unnameable—just too original for easy categorisation.
