Pale wanders

A separation of self

This is a place of absolutes

Wilting hands pull apart faded skin

Tugging at the crimson worms

The unopened purse to the side of a fickle witch

A hunger wild and untamed

Until reprieve is found we gnaw

Scratching at the swollen cyst

At the center of our being

We open it up

Unhinge the sternum

To rip apart the rib cage, vigorously

Like a bassinet in a house fire

We never find a cyst, only ourselves

A child with eyes with swept shut

Suffocated by years adrift

The scores and blemishes

On the inside of its juvenescent casket
