Marvin Sapp
I Win
Album - Christian, Music, Gospel, Contemporary Gospel
On his concept album I Win, Sapp taps into a wellspring of personal sorrow to testify about the glory of the almighty. Of course, he’s done that before—each of his well-known hits has followed that trajectory of sorrow and redemption, notably “The Best in Me” and “Never Would Have Made It.” I Win, however, is the first album The Pastor Who Sings has released since his wife, MaLinda Sapp, passed away. Recorded in front of a highly receptive crowd in Maryland in October 2011, this record's a complete rollercoaster of emotional, modern R&B gospel. The sound is brawny and strong, but the heart's always right there on Pastor Sapp’s sleeve as he preaches in words and song about the redemptive power of love.
