An Atlanta rapper discovered by producer/hollerer extraordinaire Lil Jon, Lil Scrappy first hit the scene in 2004, blowing up on the strength of his rabble-rousing debut single, "Headbussa." His first solo album, Bred 2 Die Born 2 Live, dropped two years later, coproduced by 50 Cent and featuring the hit "Money in the Bank" with Young Buck. Since then, he's released a pair of solid indie efforts (two volumes of Prince of the South) and maintained his status as a midlevel Dirty South club fixture. After several years of delays and label issues, The Grustle is finally here. It's a 15-track affair that finds Scrappy sticking to the script, rhyming exclusively about his flossy lifestyle, affinity for various intoxicants, smooth moves with the ladies, and propensity to tear the club up. Twista and 2 Chainz costar on the lead single, "Helicopter," while Rasheeda and Chinky Brown do their thing on the designer-centric anthem "Bags." Big synths and stuttering beats dominate, while other highlights include "Keep It Movin'" and "Secrets."
