In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. In 1996, I lost a talent show. It was the very first time that I had ever competed with my music. A guy named Terry T was in the audience and put me in the studio immediately afterwards. Double L was born.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Agonie, Malcolm vs Martin Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, E. 1999 Eternal Makaveli, The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory 1st is Makaveli, because Tupac had just passed away and we needed answers. That album sort of gave us closure, and solidified his legacy all in one. E. 1999, because it changed the paradigm in how rap music sounded. Last is Malcolm vs Martin!!
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Can't Break Me (feat. Inna-Star Muhammad)” This song was written and recorded at a time where I was rediscovering myself and building my confidence. Music always gave me purpose and then, I needed an anthem to motivate me to reach my next level of greatness. This is what we came up with.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? DJ Bee used to play freestyles from local artists from VA on the radio. The most listened sessions were at the 5pm traffic mix when everyone was off work. He would always play mine then. I picked my girl up from work and she heard me on the radio.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? One day, I hope to grace the stage at a music festival and ultimately win a few grammy's. I also want to shoot a hip hopera and have it distributed through Warner Bros.
