Germany-based duo Cem Oral (Jammin' Unit) and Ingmar Koch (Dr. Walker) have been making hard-hitting acid and techno as Air Liquide since the early '90s. Their discography includes releases on Rising High, Blue, Sm:)e Communications (including the double-CD The Increased Difficulty of Concentration and several 10" EPs), and Oral's own Pharma imprint. Although the pair have dabbled in everything from beatless ambient to back-breaking, nosebleed gabber, the bulk of their material has clustered around dirty, midtempo acid and breakbeat techno, with the focus on thick 303 lines and simple, minimal phrases. They've also increasingly moved to a more hip-hop-infused brand of caustic electro, as well as more accessible house tracks, with releases like 2004's Let Your Ears Be the Receiver! After several years of inactivity, Air Liquide reunited for performances and released the EP This Is a Mind Trip in 2018.
