Italian-born, Berlin-based DJ and producer Alignment combines kicking hard techno and old-school trance styles into a stirring, melodic "big room" blend. Born Francesco Pierfelici in Bologna and classically trained in clarinet as a youngster, he got into hip-hop as a teen and started producing beats for artists in his hometown. He later discovered techno at the famous Cocoricò nightclub in Riccione, turned onto the sound by the sets of masters like Len Faki. His debut single was 2015's "Phobia" on Berlin-based Voxnox; the following year, he moved to Berlin to further his career. More singles followed on that label and other outlets like Konstruktiv, Arts, Involve, and Etruria Beat. An artistic acquaintance with Belgian Charlotte de Witte led to a fruitful collaboration with her label KNTXT, beginning with 2020's Nothingness EP. In 2024 Alignment launched his own label, Orbital, with the EP When the Bass Is Too Loud.
