A student of the great King Jammy, Bobby Digital would eventually usurp his mentor’s place as the most respected and influential producer of the dancehall era. Though King Jammy pioneered the use of digitally preprogrammed rhythms with productions like the ubiquitous “Sleng Teng,” Bobby Digital built on Jammy’s innovations by fitting rhythms with unorthodox percussion patterns that raced at breakneck tempos. Countless producers were influenced by Bobby Digital’s productions, and his work would have a huge impact on the development of Ragga, Reggaeton, and Jungle.
