After Finnish goth-rock band HIM began their career as His Infernal Majesty in 1991, they played one show, broke up in 1993, and then re-formed in 1995.
â The group has been nominated for 17 Emma Awards (the Finnish equivalent of the Grammy Awards) and won 8 timesâbeginning with 1997âs Newcomer of the Year honors.
â âJoin Me in Death,â their Platinum-certified power ballad from 1999âs Razorblade Romance, topped the charts in both Finland and Germany.
â In 2004, their tuneful cover of Neil Diamondâs âSolitary Manâ was a Top 10 hit in both the UK and Finland.
â The band has notched 18 Finnish Top 10 hits, with 7 of them reaching No. 1.
â Dark Light, released in 2006, was the first Finnish album ever to earn a Gold record in the US.
â In 2017, they headlined Finlandâs largest metal festival, Tuska, for the first time and announced that they would be breaking up amicably after one final tour.
