Norway may have brief summers, but dance-pop producer Matoma makes the most of them by channelling sunny vacation vibes with his signature tropical house sound.
• Matoma was trained in classical piano as a kid, and he even won a contest to perform alongside Norwegian pianists Håvard Gimse and Leif Ove Andsnes.
• Finger snaps and daiquiri-flavoured synth stabs made his 2015 remix of The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Old Thing Back” an international hit.
• He went on to create official remixes for the likes of Coldplay, Dua Lipa, and Clean Bandit.
• The DJ and producer has also made original songs with such superstars as Sean Paul (“Paradise”), Wale and Popcaan (“Feeling Right”), Jason Derulo and Jennifer Lopez (“Try Me”), and Enrique Iglesias (“I Don’t Dance [Without You]”).
