Although Marcus Viana, Sebastião Viana, Augusto Rennó, and guest musicians played in Nave dos Sonhos, the stars were the four vocalists. In addition to Olivia Viana (Viana's daughter), the three other participants were the sisters Flora and Carmem Pereira Guerra and Barbara Augusta de Melo. They all started singing very early in life. Carmem began her music initiation in the Julia Pardini Children's Choir. Marcus Viana discovered her through a news report about the girl's participation in the Zecchino D'oro Festival in Bologna, Italy. Just as Carmem, Flora began in the same choir and was also a model. Augusto de Melo sang at Centro de Musicalização Infantil da Escola de Música da UFMG (Children's Music Center of the School of Music at Federal University of Minas Gerais). Her participation in Marcus Viana's group was the result of the university's recommendation. "When I was five, I learned and sang opera songs from records my mother had," Augusto de Melo recalls. Olivia says that her career "began in the cradle." Before she was a year old, Marcus listened to her baby talk sounds and adapted them to a song ("Olívia," from Farol da Liberdade, a Sagrado Coração da Terra CD). Olivia not only sings but is an artist as well, as her drawings illustrate some CD covers for Sonhos & Sons. ~ Cesar Lanzarini
