Negros are an acclaimed bachata group from the Dominican Republic boasting ace songwriter Wason Brazobán in their membership. Originally formed in 2001 under the auspices of producer Cholo Brenes, the group signed to the New York-based bachata label Premium Latin Music and dropped their eponymous, full-length debut in 2003. Popular as well as critically acclaimed, Negros won the group four Casandra Awards (honors bestowed by the Dominican Association of Journalists. The follow-up album Sin Fecha de Vencimiento was released by Premium Latin Music in 2005, followed by Armadura de Rosas in 2007. ~ Jason Birchmeier
