In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I began writing songs at a very early age. I debuted my first tune “Shakin’ Like a Leaf” on Roger Early’s front porch at around 8 years old.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Billy Joel, Piano Man: The Very Best of Billy Joel Steely Dan, Aja Remastered The Beatles, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band The creativity and lyricism of Steely Dan has always charmed me. My band The Morning Reign spent almost an entire summer learning the songs on Sgt Pepper. What a great time that was! I played Billy Joel’s “Just the Way You Are” a bazillion times.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Like Him That Way” When I married my wife Marie, I also got a step-son, Blaine. Blaine was disabled from birth, always used a wheelchair. We became very close over the years. I wrote him this song.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? There are around 170 of my songs on Apple Music. Almost all of them were recorded with the assistance of my friend and incredible guitarist Tim Ellis. Getting with Tim and recording was one of the greatest experiences of my life. RIP Mr. Ellis!
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? To be very honest I think my days of writing and recording have come to a close. These days, living on the edge of the continent in Washington State, just below the Quinault Nation, I am gardening incessantly and doing a lot of baking.
