In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. As a child of eight, I stepped on stage to sing a classical Arabic piece. I remember the lights, the hush, and the long phrases of the muwashah. In that moment, I felt how voice, poetry, and emotion could become one.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Fairouz, Wahdon Oum Kalthoum, Diva of Arabic Music, Vol. 5 محمد عبد الوهاب, Mohamed Abd El Wahab these are three of my all time favorites. Everlasting inspiration to my musical life.

Tell us why you chose this song. “Muwashah Lahen Tayyah” This was my first recorded duo with the bassist Tony Overwater, musical partner on most of my albums. It was something very new to present muwashah with just double bass and it helped me to be defined as a modernist of the Muwashah tradtion.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Meeting Fouad abdel majeed, the composer of many of my songs. Working with Rabih Mroué as a writer and composer in most of my releases Moving from presenting classical Arabic music in a traditional way to mixing it with Jazz has shaped my carreer.
