Biografi Artis
Robbie Shakespeare was the most influential and recorded bassist in reggae history. As half of the "Riddim Twins" with drummer Sly Dunbar, he played on literally thousands of recordings by artists ranging from Burning Spear and Grace Jones to Yellowman and Bob Dylan. Between 1975 and 1980, the duo issued 20 albums as the Revolutionaries. In 1980, as Sly & Robbie, they founded label, band, and production house Taxi Productions, were Compass Point Studios' rhythm section, and released four successful albums: Gamblers Choice (1980), Language Barrier (1985), Rhythm Killer (1987), and Silent Assassin (1989). During the '90s they delivered Chaka Demus & Pliers' global smash "Bam Bam" b/w "Murder She Wrote," initiating the global dancehall revival. The duo's Grammy-winning Friends appeared in 1998, and they continued well into the 21st century with albums like 2006's Rhythm Doubles, 2014's Dubrising, and 2021's Red Hills Road.
