Rupert's People were part of a massive wave of British psychedelic pop that happened in the late '60s, producing just a few singles before morphing into their next form. The band existed for just about a year, between 1967 and 1968, with complicated shifts in lineup and presentation on either side of that time. While active, however, Rupert's People made driving tunes that drew from the more surreal side of the Beatles, had hints of Small Faces mod pop, and in some cases, sounded dangerously close to the plaintive songwriting of Procol Harum. The band's relative obscurity made them an object of fascination for psych collectors that surfaced later, and their output was gathered on multiple collections, most extensively with the 2025 release Dream in My Mind : Anthology 1967-1999.
