The chugging riffs, keyboard fills, growled vocals, and dexterous guitar solos that punctuated Sadist's breakthrough single "Breathin' Cancer" put the Italian band on the map among extreme metal enthusiasts. The ever-changing lineup has powered through four decades (and counting) with an often brutal, occasionally technically proficient, and always fascinating approach to hard rock, from 1997's Crust -- their first release with longtime vocalist Trevor Nadir -- to the post-hiatus statements of power Sadist (2007) and Season in Silence (2010), and even influences spanning African percussion (2015's Hyaena) and the filmography of Alfred Hitchcock (2018's Spellbound). By 2025’s Something to Pierce, Sadist were officially a duo of Nadir and Tommy Talamanca, with live members supporting them on tour.
