A leader in global music fusion, New Age singer-songwriter and peace activist Snatam Kaur is known for blending the roots of Sikh melodies with a modern Western sound.
ā Kaur developed a love for music at age six, when she was introduced to Sikh culture and kirtan chants while visiting India with her family.
ā Her father, a former Grateful Dead manager, recruited legendary guitarist Bob Weir to coach Kaur for her first festival performance in 1990.
ā She made her recording debut with the 2002 album Prem, which she described as the launching point for her signature spiritual sound.
ā In 2012, she performed a private concert for long-time admirer Oprah Winfrey, who said that the show was āone of the most amazing surprises of my life.ā
