Less of a side project and more of a meeting of the minds, Explorers Club is the brainchild of Magellan vocalist/keyboardist Trent Gardner. The group features an impressive array of progressive and hard rock talent, including James Labrie, John Myung, and John Petrucci (all three of Dream Theater), former Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman, Kerry Livgren and Steve Walsh of Kansas, extreme metal guitar hero James Murphy (Death, Testament, Obituary), Frank Zappa’s Terry Bozzio, Yes’ Steve Howe, and several others. Although the group has collaborated infrequently, when they do get together, the resulting album is always an event.
