North Carolina power pop heroes the Mayflies USA blend ear-tickling pop hooks with big electric guitars and a dash of indie rock edge. Fans of the great Southern power pop bands of the 1970s, the band's first two albums -- 1999's Summertown and 2000's The Pity List -- were produced by Chris Stamey of the dB's, who added a dash of polish and focus to their music. 2002's Walking in a Straight Line, produced by Keith Cleversley, added grit and swagger to their attack, but it was also their last LP before going on hiatus in 2003. Fans would have to wait until 2025 to get their next dose of the Mayflies USA and their reunion album Kickless Kids.
