One of Sugarhill Records’ more novel acts, Wayne being a ventriloquist’s dummy, Charlie his ‘right hand’ man. The duo’s ‘Check It Out’ cut in 1981 was a take on Kurtis Blow’s ‘The Breaks’, but a career in the pop world, unsurprisingly, did not beckon.
