Originally named The Gospel Melody Quartet in 1946, this perennially popular vocal group became The Florida Boys in 1954, and with their tight, complex harmonies, they established the benchmark for traditional southern gospel quartets. They were the first southern gospel act to host a nationally syndicated television show, The Gospel Singing Jubilee, which ran in the '60s and '70s. With numerous Dove awards, more than 100 albums, and dozens of past and present group members, The Florida Boys reorganized in 2007 and continue to tour, carrying on quartet music's tradition.
