The Antlers began as the solo project of singer/songwriter Peter Silberman, who recorded two lo-fi albums in Brooklyn in 2006. Swelling to a three-piece with the addition of Michael Lerner and Darby Cicci, it was 2009's Hospice that provided a breakout moment. Silberman's wounded falsetto and the band's austere dream pop arrangements gave heart to the critically acclaimed concept album's touching themes of love and loss. They built on that momentum and found more propulsive indie rock elements with Burst Apart in 2011 and the experimental Familiars in 2014.
