At Gomez’s wildest extremes there’s a band throwing together the most arresting sonic ideas they can find, putting their needle-sharp riffs over rough-hewn rocking struts and creating sampladelic slide-guitar funk opuses with three-part harmonies. “Devil Will Ride” even filters the blues through a talk box and Mellotron strings for a whiff of robotic damnation.
