Now, I suppose if there is any point to these, er, concerts at all...well, frankly, if you’ve learned anything that’s your own silly fault – that’s not the point – it’s to show that music like this is not elitist. I don’t think classical music is elitist and neither does my butler.

I actually think classical music is rather like sex – you don’t know how long it will last, you don’t know what you should be thinking about and, of course, it can be embarrassing if you start clapping in the wrong place.
The opposite to that of course: pop music. Pop music – that’s hip, that’s what everybody should be listening to. The big thing about pop music, there is not much music in pop music. Four-chord pop songs, that’s very famous. Well, we have unearthed an 8-chord pop song. One that did very well for the composer Pachelbel in 1694.
