Cody Jinks
Adobe Sessions
Album · Country · 2015 · Late August Records
Cody Jinks’ 2015 long-player is a heavy, thoughtful, and sometimes rowdy dose of classic country built for the next generation of the genre’s fans. The Texas songwriter nails an obligatory theme with toe-tapping love letter “Mamma Song” and conjures an ominous, stormy mood with the ode to feeling down “Loud and Heavy.” And Jinks never shies away from tender moments, using wistful strings to tackle heartbreak on the waltzing “Me or You.” He ends Adobe Sessions with the weary and sparse “Rock and Roll,” where he swears off hard living for good.
