Five Finger Death Punch
American Capitalist
Album · Rock · 2011 · Prospect Park
Forget high octane: Five Finger Death Punch’s groove metal goes nuclear on their third album. Cut after cut seamlessly integrates their love for rabidly growling riffs and radio-savvy hooks. The testosterone-drenched anthems “Under and Over It” and “Back for More” blaze with guitarists Zoltan Bathory and Jason Hook’s growing interest in classic metal licks both ornate and screaming. But as the ill-tempered “Menace” proves, the band’s MVP is drummer Jeremy Spencer, whose double-kicks and tribal toms fuel their chugging motor.
