Biografia dell'artista
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
My mom used to play the music of three great artists over and over again: Ray Charles, Louis Armstrong and Harry Belafonte. This music continues to inspire me every day. The song that gives me goosebumps from Louis is probably "St James Infirmary". What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Albert Mangelsdorff, Albert Mangelsdorff Solo
Caetano Veloso, Livro
Martha Argerich, Ravel: Concerto en sol La Valse
Albert Mangelsdorff is one of my main influence. A pioneer.
"Livro" by Caetano is one of my favorite. It's an amazing production. Great arrangements and orchestrations.
I love Ravel's piano concerto by Argerich. The second movement is very touching. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
“Cantus Planus (feat. Russ Lossing)”
I wrote this piece for Russ Lossing. it is based on a Gregorian chant. I tried to give it a hypnotic atmosphere. Russ only had a couple of days to prepare the music. His performance is outstanding. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
A few years ago I was invited to perform with Pierre Favre at the Altes Oper in Frankfurt to pay tribute to the late Albert Mangelsdorff. A memorable evening full of emotions. It was a real honour to play in memory of one of my heroes.
