Akhil Sachdeva is proof that a chance encounter can change oneās life. The singer-songwriter happened to meet Hindi film director Shashank Khaitan at a party and played him a three-year-old song from his repertoire. That song was āHumsafarā, a tender ballad that Khaitan then featured in his 2017 box-office smash Badrinath Ki Dulhania. It introduced the world to Sachdeva, who had already been making an impression as lead vocalist of popular Sufi rock band Nasha. More success followed with āTera Ban Jaungaā from 2019ās Kabir Singh, which went on to become one of the most-streamed Bollywood soundtracks of all time. Both songs won Sachdeva a slew of industry accolades, including Filmfare, IIFA and Zee Cine Awards for either playback singing or music directing. Heās careful with choosing his movie projects, balancing them with both non-film pop releases as well as compositions for web series such as Bebaakee, Broken But Beautiful and Kaisi Yeh Yaariaanāthe latter of which features his singing voice for the main protagonist, music star Manik. And in 2022, Sachdeva forayed into the Punjabi music industry by contributing a pair of songs to the film Vich Bolunga Tere. Whether heās singing for a character or giving voice to his own feelings, Sachdeva can be counted on to deliver soulful intensity.
