New York City-based husband-and-wife duo As Is are a sophisticated jazz outfit featuring the talents of guitarist Alan Schulman and vocalist Stacey Schulman. Active together since 2005, As Is play an urbane mix of standards and originals that touch upon straight-ahead jazz, swing, and more contemporary styles. Raised in Cincinnati, Alan (who also works in marketing) has played with such luminaries as Herbie Hancock, Anita Baker, and Wynton Marsalis. Similarly, New York native Stacy has enjoyed a successful career as a musical and theater actress and studio vocalist. In 2015, the duo debuted with A Love Like Ours. They returned in 2018 with the James McKinney-produced Here's to Life. Featured on the album were guest appearances from drummer Marcus Baylor, saxophonist David Binney, harmonica player Grégoire Maret, and others. ~ Matt Collar
