One of Europe's oldest symphonic ensembles, the Carlsbad Symphony Orchestra continues to play an important role in the musical life of the Czech Republic today. The group is also known by the Czech version of its name, the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra (Karlovarský Symfonický Orchestr). The Carlsbad Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1835. On July 20, 1894, it gave the European continental premiere of Dvořák's Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Op. 95 ("From the New World"). A key figure in the orchestra's development was conductor Robert Manzer (1911-1941). Later conductors have included Jiří Stárek (2004-2009) and, beginning in 2022, Ondřej Vrabec. In 2024, it issued the album Auber: Overtures, Vol. 6, under conductor Dario Salvi.
