Chi è Claudio Constantini
Claudio Constantini is a pianist, bandoneonist and composer with 12 albums to his name. He has performed at several prestigious venues around the world including Wigmore Hall, Ravinia Festival, and Teatro Real. Constantini trained as a classical musician, but also has enthusiasm for popular music genres, among which Latin American music and improvisation play a key role.
Born 1983 into a musician’s family in Lima (Peru), he first studied piano with his father, and later received his bachelor’s degree in Finland, his master’s degree in The Netherlands, and finally the diplôme de concert in Paris. He was a pupil and eventually assistant of maestro Aquiles Delle Vigne, a former student of legendary pianists Claudio Arrau and György Cziffra.
Constantini started to teach himself the bandoneon in 2003 before taking lessons with bandoneonist Victor Villena. Keen to broaden its repertoire, Constantini has premiered several works, including a concerto by composer Daniel Schvetz with the Metropolitan Orchestra of Lisbon in 2011. In 2019, he received a Latin Grammy nomination for his solo album America. In 2021, he premiered his own Concerto for Bandoneon and Orchestra. As a performer, Constantini is at home with a wide range of composers—witness his remarkably eclectic album 20th Century Tango (2020), featuring works by Satie, Ravel, Piazzolla, and Schnittke, and Bach, released on Warner Classics in 2023.
