French pianist Arthur Ancelle was the youngest student in his harmony class at the École Normale de Musique de Paris "Alfred Cortot," which he entered at age seven. A prize winner in many international music competitions, Ancelle has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Wigmore Hall, and other important venues. In addition to his solo career, Ancelle is also the duet partner and husband of Ludmila Berlinskaya, with whom he concertizes and records. Ancelle is an active arranger, transcribing Dukas' The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker and Francesca da Rimini, and Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet and Cinderella in versions for two pianos. Ancelle has also recorded albums of solo piano music by Chopin, Dutilleux, and Haydn, which have been released by Melodiya. ~ Blair Sanderson
