A two-time Grammy-winning singer, Dee Dee Bridgewater is a dynamic performer whose scat-infused style is steeped in jazz and R&B traditions. Emerging in New York in the 1970s, she sang with the Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Jazz Orchestra and garnered acclaim on Broadway for her Tony Award-winning performance as Glinda the Good Witch in The Wiz. She released a handful of crossover jazz/R&B albums, including 1976's Dee Dee Bridgewater, before moving to France and starring in the musical Sophisticated Ladies. Her profile rose after signing to Verve and releasing albums like Keeping Tradition and Dear Ella, the latter of which won the Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Performance. She took home another Grammy with 2010's Eleanora Fagan (1917-1959): To Billie with Love from Dee Dee. An NEA Jazz Master, Bridgewater returned to her R&B roots with 2017's Memphis...Yes, I'm Ready, before pairing with pianist Bill Charlap for 2025's Elemental.
