From Within
Chi è From Within
From Within is an unlikely ambient techno collaboration between Canadian acid techno legend Richie Hawtin and prolific ambient composer Pete Namlook, whose collaborative partners also includes such artists as Klaus Schulz, Mixmaster Morris, Tetsu Inoue, Bill Laswell, and Burhan Ocal, among a dozen others. From Within combines Namlook's signature sweeping synths with Hawtin's sharp beats, producing a sound not dissimilar from Higher Intelligence Agency and the more beat-oriented side of Global Communication. The pair have produced three From Within CDs to date, with all three originally appearing on Namlook's limited-quantity Fax label. The CDs were reissued via Fax sublabel World in 1996, and Hawtin re-released them once again on his Plus 8 label in late 2000. ~ Sean Cooper
