Nashville-based ambient duo Hammock got their start in 2003 when guitarists Andrew Thompson and Marc Byrd were on break from their band Common Children.
â They received national exposure when the shimmering âWinter Lightââfrom their 2005 debut album, Kenoticâwas used in network coverage of the 2006 Winter Olympics Games.
â In 2007, Hammock made their live debut at a Hot Springs, Arkansas, art gallery during an exhibit by Sigur RĂłs frontman JĂłnsi and producer Alex Somers.
â The bandâs Asleep In the Downlights - EP, from 2011, features vocal contributions from The Churchâs Steve Kilbey and Tim Powles.
â With 2013âs Oblivion Hymns, the duo had a Top 20 hit with a collection of ambient chamber music, complete with a full orchestra and childrenâs choir.
â Hammock scored the critically acclaimed 2017 film Columbus at the invitation of its writer/director, Kogonada.
