Hans Rotmo was a Norwegian singer/songwriter who rose to fame in the mid-'70s as the frontman of chart-topping folk-pop band Vømmøl Spellmannslag before proceeding to form a number of other bands and embark on a solo career. After Vømmøl Spellmannslag's Vömlingen (1975) went all the way to number one, Rotmo formed Arbeidslaget Hass K. Vømmølbakken, which released the Spellemannprisen award-winning Grovarbeid (1976). In the 1980s, Rotmo embarked on a solo career with Vårres Jul (1980). In another twist, he adopted the alias Ola Uteligger for the Top Ten hits Brøllopet i Kanaan (1985) and Herberget Sannheten (1987). Rotmo reverted to his birth name for Vårres Jul Revidert (1990) and Fest i Natt (1992), but in the '90s mostly occupied himself with theater productions. The compilation Spaell Åt Mae was a big hit in 2003. Still recording into his seventies, the accordion album Jularbosommer appeared in 2022.
