About Laura Dickinson
Biografia dell'artista
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
I did my first recording session when I was about seven years old.
I sang in church growing up even though there was no live music in the denomination I was raised in.
I've played piano since birth, our piano has my teething marks on it. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Alanis Morissette, Jagged Little Pill
Frank Sinatra, The Best of the Capitol Years / Selections from the Capitol Years Box Set: Frank Sinatra
Whitney Houston, Whitney Houston: Greatest Hits
I've been listening to these albums forever.
You can go to school on them, relax to them, just about anything you need.
Much of my musical education came from listening to these artists and their catalogue. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
“You Must Love Me”
I arranged this song for piano (and played), voice and cello to be used in a production of Evita when I played Eva.
The song, which was originally written for the 1996 film, won the Golden Globe and the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1997. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
It's a toss up between performing all over the world with Ricky Kej using world music for environmental consciousness and performing as Giselle's voice for Amy Adams in Disenchanted.
Both incredible experiences with a lot of memories attached. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
I'd love to perform at the Hollywood Bowl again.
It's a magical venue.
Now onward to hosting and musical guesting on Saturday Night Live! I'd really like to reorchestrate the Jeopardy "Think!" theme and record it with a symphony orchestra.
