In early 2022, South Korea's 143 Entertainment began preparations for the formation of a new girl group, signing Ito Miyu (MiU), Kim Suh-ye (Suhye), and Oh Ga-eun (Gaeun). Billed by 143 as an "expandable" group with potential future members, Limelight got their start with the slice-of-life reality show Lululala before they issued the Limelight EP in 2022. The group's early sound pulled heavily from sounds across the electronic music spectrum, a core style which continued on their 2023 EP Love & Happiness, helmed by the lead single "Honestly." After releasing a single album, Madeleine, later that August, the trio returned with their third EP, Last Dance, in January 2024, which peaked at number six on the Korean Albums Chart.
