The members of multi-Platinum alternative-rock band LIVE began playing music together in the early ā80s as junior high school students in York, Pennsylvania.
ā Produced by Talking Headsā Jerry Harrison, their 1991 debut EP, Four Songs, featured the alternative hit āOperation Spirit (The Tyranny of Tradition).ā
ā Beginning with 1994ās chart-topper āSelling the Drama,ā the band released 11 singles in a row that reached the Billboard Modern Rock Top 20.
ā LIVEās sophomore album, 1994ās Throwing Copperārecorded at the same Minnesota studio where Nirvana made In Uteroāsold more than 8 million copies.
ā The band dedicated their biggest single, 1994ās meditative rock ballad āLightning Crashes,ā to a friend who was killed by a drunk driver.
ā In 1997, their third album, Secret Samadhiānamed for a state of Hindu meditationādebuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
ā Trip-hop star Tricky cowrote and rapped on the 2001 pop-metal anthem āSimple Creed,ā from the bandās fifth album, V.
