In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. One of my earliest musical memories was watching and listening to Leonard Bernstein's Young People's Concerts on a little black & white TV as a little kid. I was absolutely riveted by both the music and the conducting.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Hubert Laws, Rite of Spring Jethro Tull, The Best of Jethro Tull (The Anniversary Collection) The Burnt Earth Ensemble, Terra Cotta Bouree on Jethro Tull's "Stand Up" album permanently and irrevocably blew my mind as a classical flutist. Hubert Laws' "Rite of Spring" furthered the possibilities interpreting classical repertoire. I recorded on Burnt Earth Ensemble's "Terra Cotta".
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “The Emperor and the Nightingale, Scene 1: The Garden” This score was commissioned by Oakland Ballet choreographer Michael Lowe. It's a story ballet based on Hans Christian Andersen's "The Nightingale". The choreographer wanted traditional Chinese instruments included which made for great fun!
