West Coast rapper P.S.D. was raised shuttling between California and Mississippi; he first attracted underground attention with his contribution to the compilation Mobbin' Thru the Bay, leading to appearances on other comps including Rompalation, Spread Yo' Hustle, and 3 Beam Circus. P.S.D.'s hotly awaited solo debut, Bread Head, followed on Lightyear in early 1999, trailed later that same year by What It Is. ~ Jason Ankeny
