Grammy-winning Australian pop-rocker Rick Springfield parlayed his โ80s success into a lengthy recording and acting career complete with four Platinum albums and numerous starring roles.
โ After it was a hit for his previous band, Zoot, he released an updated solo version of โSpeak to the Skyโ in 1972, which became his first of nine Top 20 singles on the Billboard Hot 100.
โ The 1981 breakout album Working Class Dog included his signature song, the Grammy-winning โJessieโs Girl,โ whose long climb to No. 1 was helped by the debut of MTV.
โ Springfield won Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist honors at the American Music Awards af 1982โs Success Hasnโt Spoiled Me Yet, featuring the No. 2 smash โDonโt Talk to Strangers.โ
โ Longtime fan Dave Grohl recruited him for the acclaimed 2013 documentary Sound City, and Springfield wrote and performed โThe Man That Never Wasโ with Foo Fighters for its soundtrack.
