Brown is a noted songwriter, especially in Nashville, Tennessee, who with Clay Blaker has composed several songs, including ‘We Must Be Loving Right’, which was recorded by George Strait and Barbra Streisand. With Luke Reed, he wrote ‘If You Mess With The Bull’; with Billy Yates he wrote ‘Me, Marie’; and with Tommy Connors he wrote ‘Git It’. The latter song was included in the score of the Broadway musical, Urban Cowboy (2003), which ran for only 60 performances but picked up a Tony Award for Best Original Score. Brown also wrote ‘I’ve Had It With You’ and ‘Say What’s On Your Mind’.
